The Newberg chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) has been getting together weekly for more than four decades to provide support for losing or maintaining weight. The group hopes to introduce itself to a new batch of potential members at an open house next week.
TOPS may appeal to a wide range of people, as evidenced by their current membership, which includes individuals ranging in age from 10 to 94. Some have been members for more than 20 years; others, such as chapter leader Janice Elbert, are fairly recent additions.

The open house will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21 at River Street Church of God, 715 S. River St. Meetings are weekly, also at that time and location.
