One summer, I decided to build a sled. Growing up in Southern California, I didn't get to see much snow. My complete ignorance of winter sports and July's unaccommodating weather only sharpened my interest. I fashioned my sleigh out of an old piece of metal, duct tape and string, then took it up to the top of the hill, kicked off and prepared for a breathless ride. I moved about one inch, and then fell over. For grown-ups, being productive usually means ticking items off a to-do list. But there's something to be said for using summer's extra hours to tap into your creativity and do things that don't need to be done -- like make your own marshmallows, which is on eHow Spark user Callie Chappelle's summer must list.
