This week's poll: Is it fair to discriminate on age, gender or race in insurance pricing? In December the European Court of Justice 'gender equalisation' rule hits, meaning insurers can no longer charge men and women different prices (other things being equal). It'll mean hikes in car and life insurance for women, and lower annuity rates for men. | Poll resultsIs it wise to borrow £10,000 to travel the world? When one of Martin's followers on Twitter asked for advice on whether she should borrow £10k to go travelling, she had no idea she'd get 11,367 responses. Almost half (48%) said it was silly and she shouldn't do it, 34% reckon it's silly, but they'd do it if it was their one chance and 18% voted 'do it - live now, worry later'. Question of the weekQ: Should I pay to get my EHIC quicker via a 'fast-track' service? MSE Rose's A: No, no, and no. A European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is worth having if you're going abroad, as it can get you free or discounted medical care in any EU country, plus a few others. Yet there's no such thing as an EHIC 'fast-track' application, so don't get caught out. Google "EHIC" and you'll find websites charging about £15 to process your application, with some offering a 'fast-track' service for an extra fee. Yet the fastest way to get your EHIC is via the official website, www.ehic.org.uk. Go via this route so there's no cost - see the Free EHIC guide. Name and shame... your dog Here at MSE Towers, we believe in naming the culprits of misdeeds. Yet an oversight in the past means we've missed out some naughty and destructive pooches. No longer - eg, the dogfession: "I eat stinkbugs and throw them up on the nice clean floor." Name and shame your dog.
